In 1978, a poll showed that one French television program broadcast on August 14 was watched by no viewers at all. The show was an in-depth interview with an Armenian woman on her fortieth birthday. It covered how she met her husband, her illnesses, and her joy of living. According to the TV survey, 67 percent of viewers had watched a Napoleonic costume drama and 33 percent had tuned in to another show. The no-viewer program was telecast at peak-viewing time.

That seems a little suspect. For one, if it's a self-reporting poll, those are notoriously unreliable. And how do they know that they asked everyone? And if by poll they meant something akin to the nielsen ratings, that doesn't count every viewer. It just doesn't seem like it could be accurate.

Oh, I agree completely. But it still shows only an incredibly small number of people had to have seen it. Depending on wide the poll was, or if it was similar to nielsen ratings, then it's just that much worse, especially considering how it was prime viewing time.
