Space is showing a Buffy marathon today of episodes viewers voted for. Started at 9am and goes to 6pm, the top 10 in other words. Been watching most of them, and watching the FOX season finales from last night during ones I don't care about as much heh. None of the ones I voted for made the list. Blah.
Now I'm trying to catch up on LJ once again. It seems to be mostly working at the moment, although a bit uncooperative periodically. I'm back on Tues night at the moment. Combo of work and the site not cooperating (in the span of two hours yesterday I was only able to read about 5 entries) is the problem. Hopefully I can get either completely caught up or at least a good size chunk of the way.
I did get to see Matrix Reloaded and X-Men 2 last night with a few friends. It was really good to see them in person again. Talking online is one thing, but in person is so much better. Both movies were very good.
Saw Matrix Reloaded first off. Firstly: It had a T3 trailer on it. *drools* Very much looking forward to that movie. I'm not expecting it to do well and wouldn't be surprised if it bombs at the box office, but I know I'll love it and can't wait to see it. Now, back to Matrix stuff: It was a good action movie with sci-fi aspects. The plot was all right. Now, I'm saying it was a good movie, but it's trying to be a type of epic movie when the first did not lend itself that way. The fact that it was shown as only one half of a total movie doesn't help because it had no real closure of anything. It felt like they just stopped it all right then, like hitting stop in the middle of a movie. That takes away from how good it can be. So in the meantime, I'd rather reserve judgment till after the next one, but I don't like how they've done this.
There are some interesting characters in it of course. I thought the twins were an interesting pair for them to deal with. Wonder if they run into them again or not since they would be extremely hard to defeat since they can heal so quickly when intangible. They indicated that each time the matrix is reloaded, the person who is 'the one' becomes stronger than before. That's rather interesting. The agent Smith in the real world is probably something else that has never happened before. The preview for the next movie seems to indicate that control over the machines will rest in a battle between Agent Smith and Neo. Hhhmm. I'm also intrigued by the Oracle. I don't think her role in things is so clear cut, but that's just me.
The revealed plot points are interesting as well. Thankfully this was a good movie, so I can ignore the flaws in the plot and still think it's a good movie heh. Any time you can ignore plot holes and the like and still enjoy yourself, that's the sign of a really good movie.
Then we saw X-Men 2. This was also a really good movie that was very enjoyable. Yeah, there are characters I'm not overly fond of, like Pyro, but I like pretty much everyone else. I kinda wish they had more Colossus in the movie, but the special effects for him are fairly extreme, but he's such a great guy (he was the big guy helping the kids escape whose skin turned into metal).
It was also clear where they are going with the next installment throughout the entire movie. They keep hinting at it over and over again throughout. It was only at the end that gave the clearest example of what was coming....The Dark Phoenix saga since Jean has now changed into the Phoenix. I was hoping they'd do the Sentinels first, but oh well. Then again, they may have her as the Phoenix first before doing the Dark Phoenix saga....have to wait and see I guess but the special effects for her character are intense, so who knows.
I was a bit of a fan of the comics, so I'm a bit like the obsessive fan when it comes to the movies and will probably like them no matter what hehe. It's kind of interesting to see that people respond to Wolverine in the movies pretty much like in the comics. He's such an interesting character with an interesting history. They've done such an amazing job with the casting for the characters that I'm very impressed. Very few weakness' to be found, mostly Storm and Pyro.
Anyway, looking forward to the next installments of both movies!
