Okay, I've found a number of interesting/funny links that I thought I'd share. I'm splitting them up because some will find some of them offensive so they are behind the lj-cut.
First off, how neat is this? It's also incredibly scary that something like that can be done with the fairly limited technology that we possess today. It's practical applications are enormous that could help a lot of people or at least improve their lives. But with all technologies, there's a downside and this one has several big ones. I'm sure you all can figure those out for yourself.
Now this just pisses me off. It's one thing to be investigated for something, but to have the Justice Department do it? Especially over something that's been done for obviously strictly religious purposes? If you are going to be a scientist, you MUST follow scientific methodology, not ignore it because your religion tells you to. Aside from all that, why doesn't the student just lie like others in a similar situation would have done? As an extra, another report I read about it suggested the student they are using in this isn't even in the professors class which makes it look even worse. If you can't see the article, ask me and I can forward it to you.
A flash cartoon simulationof what would happen in the middle east if war on Iraq occus. It starts by showing what the units look like and you can move your mouse over them for more details or just continue on to the simulation.
In a 'who knew?' type of situation, someone pointed me to this Onion article written back in Jan 2001. Scary how some of it has or is coming true.
Another scary article about the type of tactics that seem to be in use by the US lately and the connections between the guy and US administration is kind of scary.
