They changed it!
Feb. 6th, 2003 06:40 pmFirst, I'm rather annoyed with school boards/provincial gov around here. The extra money from the province either hasn't been delivered, or the boards won't use it on the teachers (even though most of it was earmarked for them). Now the teachers are threatening to strike. Right now, work to rule and they are already getting blasted by parents. Yes, we do these things for free, and you are pissed off now that we won't as part of a minor job action. Blah. Then there's a good chance of actual full blown strikes, you know how well that'll go over. This provincial government has been anti-teacher since day one, bleck.
Anyway, work today was harder than I thought. They switched one of the classes with an English one, so I had actual work to do instead of watching movies all afternoon heh. The class was good for the most part, just the usual stupid stuff students do when a supply teacher is in. I really wish I could make rules in the classroom. Ie: ban all walkmans, cell phones, pagers, etc from the room. They are not needed in school and only cause trouble when they are in the room. Yes, I'm a prick I know.
As for tomorrow, I now know what I'm going to be doing. Phys ed in the morning (they're in a classroom though), then back to English and movies at the end of the day. English should be interesting since they are doing a short test on spelling (these are grade 10's, but like many adults, they are having problems spelling and using certain words like when to use there, their or they're, or principle, principal, etc), then I have to read a short story for them and discuss the questions and then have individuals read parts of a long story out loud. I'm glad there's an EA in the room. Part of the problem with the English class is that the teacher has been gone since Mon, so they have no set routine on what the rules are and such. Hence the electronic media. Is it really hard to understand that you can't have a cell phone in class? Yeesh.
