The school admin decided to change spirit day, to spirit morning. Talk about screwed up. Having a spirit day on a friday is fine, changing it to only the morning with classes in the afternoon is insane. As expected, many classes were virtually empty. The only classes that were full were the senior classes and those that were there for senior sleepover(a night where the students stay for fun, games, movies and food all night long).

I helped out/played in one of the morning activities that took up most of the morning. Snow Football. It was supposed to be touch football and we had a fairly good turnout. About 30 guys and 2 girls. Of that, there was myself, a male teacher and one of the female interns. It quickly changed to tackle football in less than one play *ggl*

We played it as you had four downs to get to the endzone. No first downs or anything like it. It was a lot of fun, but a lot of us were injured. Not due to really rough playing, but from the snow surface. The surface was really hard, close to ice. It supports your weight, but as soon as you start running, some of your steps go through the surface. When you fall, any bare skin gets scratched up. Since most of us didn't have any gloves, many of us had hand injuries(mostly scratches) before the game was over. We fell alot from tackles and from all the holes in the ground we kept tripping over *ggl*

It was lots of fun, our team took an early 2-0 lead when half our team had to go back inside for various reasons. After the game was over, we still won 2-1 with only half a team ;)

I wasn't able to use full force while playing and had to tackle very carefully to be sure I didn't hurt anyone at all. I don't need to get in trouble for seriously hurting someone. But the students didn't have those problems though *ggl* Oddly enough, many of the players were physics students, so some of them on the other team teased me and targeted me for fun. I took many hard hits and didn't mind it. It's been ages since I was able tackle football so I really enjoyed it. I went all out playing of course and won the respect of all the students, especially after I sacked the quarterback several times *evil grin*.

In the end, I had a number of hand injuries(scratches and pieces of skin missing=blood *ggl*) that made my left hand useless for the rest of the day and my right hand only partially usefull *g* Several injuries to my upper chest and leg areas as well. By late last night muscles in my legs, upper arms, shoulders and upper torso were all sore from the serious workout I put them through yesturday. Things were worse this morning as well. I had some really stiff muscles from the hits I took and workout I put them through. I did some stretching and all, so it's not so bad. I still say it was worth it and I'd do it again in a heartbeat *g* All told, yesturday was a lot of fun. I'm glad I was able to participate.
