Nervous

Well, today is the first time I'll be completely taking over two classes with more to be added later. I've got my material together, but since I've never taught a class before, I don't know if I have too much material, or not enough material. There's also the question of how often I'll have to refer to notes, etc. A lot has to do with experience, after teaching for a few years and teaching several sections of the same course, you eventually do memorize all the material.

But, i'm still really excited about it! Wish me luck!

First experience

Well, how to describe my first teaching experience......interesting. There were no MAJOR problems with it, but I had a lot of minor problems creep in on me. Oh well, I was hoping for better, but it's hard to figure out how you'll do on your first time teaching since you are not used to it or the problems that could come up.

My biggest problem comes from thinking of what it was like for me in high school. In my high school the students had at least one extra year of math which makes doing the problem solving portion much easier. These kids don't have much of a math background making teaching them how to solve physics problems more of a challenge for me. I'm still looking forward to the next chance I get. Even with all the minor problems, I really did enjoy myself.

Snow days

It's starting to look more and more like I'll be having a snow day tomorrow. Before saturdays blizzard, they had been predicting another for tomorrow of 10cm(4in). Then on sunday they said we'd be getting 15cm(6in). This morning they were saying 25cm(10in), and as of two hours ago, calling for 35cm(14in). As of Saturday we had received 85cm(34in) in a week, and how we are getting another 35cm tomorrow. I love snow and I can't wait!!!

All the interns at the school had a meeting with our supervisor this afternoon and she said we were already like teachers given our attitudes towards certain things like talking about having tomorrow off. *ggl* Heh, I can use the day off ;)
